It is important that players check in on the first day of camp. A required camp orientation is conducted on the first day shortly after check-in. If you are not able to arrive on the first day of camp for check in, please call our staff at # 804-938-5138 or email us at info@richmondgoalkeepingacademy.com
We expect all players to attend all sessions through the last day of camp. This provides the highest quality experience for every goalkeeper at camp and in the training group.
We understand there may be unavoidable circumstances and it would be necessary to check out your goalkeeper before the last day. If a goalkeeper needs to be picked up early please notify RGA’s Director of Goalkeeping, Amanda Forester at check-in and provide a email stating such.
This can be emailed to: Info@richmondgoalkeepingacademy.com
If it is an unscheduled pick-up you can always call us at #804-938-5138. Additionally, a specific contact list with contact numbers directly to personnel on site will be provided to the parent or guardian checking in the player on the first day of camp and 1 week prior to camp in your camp welcome packet.
Please provide an email with the full name of the person you authorize to pick up your goalkeeper at check-in. If the change occurs during the camp week please contact the personnel listed on the camp specific FAQ and notify them of the change. Those individuals picking up the player will need to bring identification. This can be emailed at: info@richmondgoalkeepingacademy.com .
Please be aware that our staff will not allow any child to be picked up by someone that the child does not recognize. If there is someone or people NOT permitted to pick your goalkeeper up, please contact us at info@richmondgoalkeepingacademy.com to advise and let us know more specific information of who is not allowed. Please be sure to include the individual's full name.
This email must be sent to us prior to check-in.
Players are grouped based on both age and skill levels. Group allocation is reviewed at the end of each camp day and goalkeepers may be moved accordingly to ensure they are in the correct development environment and constantly being challenged.
Absolutely. On and off the field camper health and safety is our number one priority. We follow a strict safety policy that ensures that there is always an adequate number of camper supervisors and chaperones at all times. We also ensure that each camper is always checked in and signed out of camp by an approved adult.
Richmond Goalkeeping coaches and certified chaperones are housed at each dorm. Our chaperones and staff are SafeSport Certified and have a completed and clear Background check.
The goalkeepers will be shown where the coach’s and/or chaperones rooms are located and they will be clearly marked so that they can be easily located by any goalkeeper needing them.
Boys and girls are in separate lodging, with male coaches at the boys’ lodging and female coaches at the girls’ lodging. Some certified parent chaperones at the boy’s lodging are Moms. However, no male parent chaperones are allowed to stay at the girls' lodging. At the girl’s lodging we will only permit female coaches and female parent chaperones only.
All RGA Coaches, Staff and Parent chaperones hold an American Red Cross certificate in responding to emergencies and CPR for professional rescuers, are background checked and certified cleared by Virginia State Police and run through a national database, and additional are SafeSport Certified.
At all of our Residential Camps, the Camp Director holds an American Red Cross certificate in responding to emergencies and CPR for professional rescuers. There will also be a qualified athletic trainer or EMT present during the week to provide on-field treatment. However, the usual course of action once any serious injury is stabilized, is to contact the parents and, if necessary, the local emergency services. In the registration process, we also ask important medical-related questions so that we are always aware of any pre-existing injury or illness.
If your child will be taking medication while at an overnight camp, the prescribing physician must provide sign off on all medications, including over-the-counter medications. Campers are NOT ALLOWED to hold onto medication while at camp.
ALL medications must be submitted to the Director of Goalkeeping of the camp for proper storage and administration. If your child is found in possession of medication, either prescription or over-the-counter medication, parents will be called for immediate pick up from camp.
At camp check-in, ALL prescription and over-the-counter medications along with a completed MEDICATION form must be submitted to the Director of Goalkeeping.
The menu flexibility varies each day. Our goal at each meal is to offer a healthy and varied food option, there are times when we can’t accommodate all special dietary needs. Be sure to list specific dietary restrictions in your camp registration. We will follow-up with more specific questions if it deemed appropriate.
If the dietary need isn’t addressed, prior to registering for any residential cam, please contact our office to see if the dietary request can be accommodated. Call: # 804-938-5138 or email info@richmondgoalkeepingacademy.com.
Additionally, daily menus will be included in our pre camp information pack that will be emailed out to our campers and parents 1-weeks prior to camp.
If your child has a cell phone they may use it only in their rooms. We do not allow players to carry their phones on field with them. You will also have the cell phone number for RGA that will be monitored around the clock by RGA Staff during the camp who you can contact in an emergency. Goalkeepers may have their cell phone on them during a team building activity but we encourage them to present in the moment and not play on their phones during these activities.
Parents are not allowed to attend training Monday-Thursday. However, we do invite parents to come and observe Session #1 on Sunday evening and Keeper Wars on Thursday. We have found that when parents constantly watch and monitor their goalkeepers during the camp that it takes away from their camp and training experience. Our goal is to keep training as focused and as productive as we can. If your goalkeeper becomes homesick, seeing their parents in the evening (closer to bed-time) will be welcomed but only if the need arises and the parent feels it would be beneficial.
The more you allow your child to immerse themselves in the soccer environment, the more they will enjoy the experience. Although we encourage our players to call home periodically, calling them several times a day is entirely counter-productive. Quite often, a text message is better. Please bear this in mind when communicating with your child.
For child protection reasons, when visiting, parents are not allowed to enter the bedrooms of the AirBnB. If you are bringing extra clothing / equipment for players, please contact our RGA Staff first and we will direct you to when and where it is best to meet and drop off these items to your goalkeeper.
Time is allocated each day for players to spend time socializing with other campers, and to spend time engaged in other activities. Each AirBNB has a common room, with a television and games. Team activities will be prepared throughout the week, featuring activities such as team building night out to Drive Shack, soccer game viewing parties, and other team competitions.
A complete recommended packing list is included in each camp welcome pack that will be emailed out to parents one week prior to camp. In general, players should be able to make one set of soccer clothing work per day. However, please have your player prepared for up to one full charge per day in case of inclement weather. In addition, players should also pack casual clothes for rest and non-soccer activities. This includes a large towel and/or yoga mat for recovery sessions.
Yes, limited food is allowed at the AirBnB house. However, the food must be in sealed containers and be nonperishable. Refrigeration space is not guaranteed or promised.
The AirBnB house will be furnished with twin-sized and full size beds and mattresses. Air beds will be also available in larger bedrooms if Goalkeepers want to be roomed with their friends. Linens are limited. We ask that you be sure to pack a fitted full size sheet, a full size bed sheet, a pillowcase, a pillow and a warm blanket to ensure that you are comfortable.

Each 3-day camp is packed with reps and Elite goalkeeper training to improve your goalkeeper's skillsets and knowledge for the game and position.
Training also includes daily on-field classroom training to help the goalkeepers expand their tactical and technical knowledge of the game.
This year we have extended the Goalkeepers training days to include 2 additional hours of training!
Why 3 days versus 5 days? Goalkeeper training and camps are intense. Unlike field player camps, Goalkeeper camps are filled with a lot diving, sometimes contact to contact, and various physically enduring drills. Goalkeepers need more rest and recovery for their bodies after intense training like this.
Our camps are fun, filled with great drills, and teaching lessons made for the the beginner goalkeeper on up to high school Elites. We have found that 3-days is the best fit for goalkeeper's recovery and injury prevention for the long-term.

Social distancing of a minimum of 6ft is required of all. Hand sanitizing stations will be set-up at each field. All players will be required to complete a COVID Check-In and temperature check.
